A truck isn't reporting or is missing from the map

A truck isn't on the fleet map or its Hours of Service is stale — check the ELD connection, the 30-second update cadence, and the ELD Offline Alert.

3 min read

A truck's not showing on the fleet map, or its Hours of Service looks stale. Live location and HOS both come from your connected ELD, so troubleshooting starts there.

How location is supposed to flow

Truck locations refresh about every 30 seconds through your connected ELD. That feed drives the fleet map, live tracking, ETA, and geofence detection. If the feed stops, everything downstream goes quiet for that truck.

Walk through these checks

  1. Is the ELD connected? Open Settings and confirm the ELD integration is still linked and its credentials are current. A connection that dropped or expired stops the feed. See Connect your ELD.
  2. Is the truck assigned and pulled in? Numeo imports trucks and drivers from the ELD. A truck that isn't in the ELD's vehicle data, or isn't assigned to a driver, may not appear. Re-check the import and assignments.
  3. Is the device itself reporting? If the ELD hardware is off, unplugged, or out of coverage, no location comes through — nothing on the Numeo side can fill that gap.
  4. Give it a cycle. Updates land roughly every 30 seconds, so a brand-new connection or a truck just powered on may take a moment to show.

Let Numeo tell you next time

Turn on the ELD Offline Alert so you're not the one noticing a truck went dark. When a truck's ELD stops reporting location, Numeo messages the driver so it gets fixed fast — this alert always goes to the driver only. See Driver notifications over Telegram.

Good to know

  • No ELD on that truck yet? It won't appear on the live map — you can still run its loads and update status by hand.
  • Once the feed is back, live location, ETA, and geofence detection pick up on their own. See Live tracking, ETA, and geofences.
