Driver and truck profiles

Add and import drivers, pair up to 2 drivers per truck, read the CDL automatically, and keep each driver's status current.

4 min read

Trucks and drivers each have a profile in Numeo One. This is where you add drivers, pair them to trucks, and keep each driver's status current — so the scheduler always has the right people to work with.

Trucks and their drivers

Each truck carries its drivers with it. From a truck's profile you assign drivers to it — up to 2 drivers per truck, which covers team operations. Once a truck's drivers are set, assigning that truck to a load brings the right driver along automatically.

You can assign drivers from the truck profile or from the "Set Up Your Fleet" quick-assign step on the scheduler — see Using the scheduler and dispatch board.

Add drivers

You don't have to key drivers in one at a time:

  • Import drivers — bring your roster in as a batch instead of typing each one.
  • Auto-assign from your ELD — when your ELD is connected, Numeo can pull drivers from the vehicle data and pair them to trucks for you. See Connect your ELD.
  • CDL parsing — when you add a driver, Numeo can read the CDL and fill in the details for you, so you're checking a pre-filled form instead of typing everything.

Driver status

Every driver is active, inactive, or terminated. You mark the status right on the driver, and set a Driver Termination Date when someone leaves.

Status isn't just a label — it controls whether a driver can be assigned. Inactive and terminated drivers are blocked from assignment and can't be overridden. See Assignment overlaps and driver availability for how that plays out on the board.

Driver notifications

When you assign or change a load, the driver hears about it. Numeo sends a load-assigned, load-unassigned, or load-update notification so the driver always has the current version of the job.

Good to know

  • Because ELD auto-assign builds most of your fleet for you, adding drivers is usually about filling gaps and keeping statuses current, not starting from scratch.
