Check broker safety and report fraud

Read FMCSA, factoring, and fraud-risk signals on a load, and report a suspicious broker.

4 min read

Before you spend a call or an email on a load, Numeo helps you check who's behind it. The "Broker Info" tab on any load pulls together authority, payment, and fraud-risk signals so you can spot a bad actor before you book — not after.

Read the Broker Info tab

Open a load and tap "Broker Info." You'll see the broker's basics and the checks that matter:

  • FMCSA authority"FMCSA Authority Active" or "Inactive." Inactive is a reason to slow down.
  • DOT Number and MC Number — the broker's identifiers.
  • Email and Phone — how to reach them.
  • "Different Payment Address" — flagged when the remit-to address doesn't match, a common scam pattern.

Check factoring

Under "Factoring (Payment Verification Provider)" you can select your provider — Wex, RTS, Triumph, or Outgo — to see whether they'll buy that broker's invoices. A clean factoring status is one of the strongest "this broker pays" signals you have.

Read the fraud check

Numeo runs a "Fraud check" on the load and gives it a risk level: High, Medium, Low, or Unknown risk. Underneath, it lists the specific flags it found, in plain language — for example:

  • "FMCSA authority inactive"
  • "Public email domain (gmail, yahoo, …)"
  • "Newly registered email domain (< 1 year)"

You'll also get a short summary, like "Caution: this broker's MC authority is not active. Verify before booking." Treat a High-risk load as a stop sign: verify independently before you commit.

Report a suspicious load

If a load looks like a scam, flag it. On the load, tap "Report this load as fraud," add the required reason, and submit — you'll see "Report submitted." Your report is confidential and reviewed by the Numeo team, and it helps keep the board cleaner for every dispatcher.

Good to know

  • Signals, not a verdict. The fraud check surfaces risk so you can decide — you stay in control of whether to book.
  • Check before you commit. Make the Broker Info tab a habit before you book from the load details screen, especially on a rate that looks too good.
