Not every load board can run a broad search. Some handle a whole state or zone; others need a specific origin city or they return nothing. AI Hub enforces this as you build the search, so a source that can't run what you've set up gets disabled. Here's the rule for each.
DAT does broad searches
DAT is the default source, and the only one that supports multi-state and zone searches. If you search by state or by zone, DAT is the source that returns results.
These sources need a city
SPOT, RXO, Emerge, Mode, and Arrive each require a specific origin city. Run a state-only search and they come back empty — so AI Hub disables them until you enter a city.
Why a source is grayed out
When a source can't run the search you've built, it's disabled with a tooltip telling you why. The two you'll see:

This source requires a specific origin city — state-only searches return no results.
The rule of thumb
- Searching a whole state or zone → that's DAT.
- Want the other boards in the mix → set a specific origin city and they light up.
Sources are set per tab, so you can run one tab wide on DAT and another city-specific across every source.
