Numeo vs McLeod Software

The enterprise TMS incumbent — 40+ years, 1,200+ companies.

Numeo One (TMS) compared with McLeod Software (TMS)

McLeod calls itself “The Most Complete Transportation Management System”, and for the operations it serves that is close to fair. This is a TMS-against-TMS comparison, but not a like-for-like one on scale: McLeod sells LoadMaster and PowerBroker to truckload carriers, brokerages, private fleets and LTL carriers, says more than 900 truckload companies in the US run it, and publishes no price at all. Numeo One is per-truck software for a carrier under 100 trucks. Where the two genuinely overlap is thinner than the category label suggests, and this page tries to say so plainly.

Where McLeod Software is strong — and where Numeo fits

McLeod Software strengths

  • Deepest accounting, settlements and native EDI in the category — Numeo One has neither EDI nor driver settlements
  • Covers segments Numeo One does not touch at all: LTL carriers, private fleets and freight brokerage (PowerBroker)
  • 40+ years and 1,200+ companies served, with more than 900 US truckload companies on the platform
  • Aurora partnership shipped January 2026 — billed as the first TMS to let customers book self-driving truck capacity from inside the system
  • RespondAI for inbound email, DocumentPower for documents, Cloud IQ for real-time insight
  • Driver Sidekick mobile app with settlements, document upload, compliance alerts and turn-by-turn routing

Where Numeo fills the gap

  • No published pricing anywhere on the site — you cannot compare cost without entering a sales process
  • Multi-month implementation. Numeo One is self-serve in days
  • Versioned enterprise release cadence (v25.1, v25.2, v26.1) rather than continuous delivery
  • Weight and configurability that a 10–50 truck fleet is paying for and will not use
  • Not a load-search product — it does not search DAT, Truckstop or broker portals for freight

Verdict

McLeod is enterprise software and Numeo One is not trying to be. If you run LTL, private fleets or a brokerage, or native EDI is a hard requirement, McLeod is the answer and this comparison is academic. For the truckload carrier under 100 trucks who keeps landing on McLeod because it is the name everyone knows, the honest position is that you would be buying — and implementing over several months, at a price only a salesperson can tell you — a great deal of capability you will never open. Numeo One publishes $10 to $15 per truck, runs dispatch, invoicing, factoring, driver payroll, IFTA, fleet and safety from day one, ships a 4.9★ driver app, and puts AI on the rate confirmations and broker email instead of adding another screen. It goes live this week.

  • They do not publish it. There is no pricing page on mcleodsoftware.com and no dollar figure anywhere on the site — evaluation starts with a contact form or a phone call. Numeo One publishes $10/truck/mo on Basic and $15/truck/mo on Pro.

  • For a truckload carrier under about 100 trucks, usually yes. Numeo One covers dispatch, automated invoicing, factoring, driver payroll and statements, IFTA, fleet, safety and claims, with a 4.9★ driver app and AI reading your rate confirmations — at a published $10 to $15 per truck, live in days. Two things genuinely need McLeod: native EDI, which we do not have, and LTL, private-fleet or brokerage operations, which we do not serve. Outside those, most of what a McLeod implementation delivers to a mid-size truckload carrier is capability that never gets opened.

  • Yes — RespondAI handles inbound email, DocumentPower processes documents, and Cloud IQ surfaces real-time insight. They also shipped an Aurora integration in January 2026 that lets customers book self-driving truck capacity from inside the TMS, which nobody else in this comparison set offers.

  • McLeod is a multi-month implementation with versioned releases — normal for enterprise software of that depth. Numeo One is self-serve: import trucks and drivers and start dispatching within days.
